I was lucky to get to attend the Glendale Chamber of Commerce Casino Night Benefit for the YMCA. It was great fun, and raised quite a bit of money for the charity. A big thank you to all who participated.

There are many ways that you can give back to the community. Getting dressed up and going out to a benefit or Gala is quick and entertaining, but there are other ways that require a bit more work. Along side that extra work often comes extra reward. I have been more than happy to donate my time to coach a Kempo team at a local dojo. Working with the kids has been both fascinating and frustrating, but always fun.

As I noted in my last post, I volunteered as emcee of an event to raise money and awareness for the families of Colorado native soldiers who have fallen in Iraq or Afghanistan. I met some fantastic people, and again, had a lot of fun.

My wife spent some of her Christmas shopping for toys for less privileged children. I know that the gifts she gave meant so much more than the gifts she got.

Give some of your time. Donate some of your things. Help with some labor. You can make a difference.
